What a day in the WetFeet Sailing program is like

WetFeet sailors will spend their mornings playing games with their peers and learning about basic sailing skills.

During the day, the sailors will explore the areas surrounding Armdale Yacht Club through tow-lines and open water sculling, with the aim of getting sails up — and sailing for the first time — by the end of the week!

What do sailors learn?

Sailors in AYC’s WetFeet Sailing program will learn the basics of sailing, such as the parts of the boat, how to steer, and the points of sail. Sailors will also learn how to work together with other group members by spending time in the same boat as their peers.

Equipment needed

In addition to food, water, sunglasses, a hat, sunsreen and other personal items, sailors need to bring their own:

  • Lifejacket
  • Sailing gloves
  • Closed toe footwear

More information will be provided before sessions begin.
